FAQ
We want to make Energy Efficiency easy and accessible! Here are some frequently asked questions:
- What if I live outside of San Francisco?
You are still eligible for an energy efficiency retrofit, but different incentives and rebates will apply in other cities. Please contact us for more information or look into your city’s financing mechanisms. We are working to stay updated with what neighboring cities are offering.
- What if I am a renter?
Since you do not own your house, you probably cannot make major changes to it. You can talk with your landlord about efficiency and send them our direction!
- I live in a new house. Do I still need an energy audit?
Even new houses are built without sufficient insulation in many cases. We recommend getting an audit on new homes. Making your home more efficient will only increase its value and save you money on energy bills.
- What if I am planning on getting solar panels soon?
With a more efficient home, your panels will be able to power more, if not all, of your home’s energy needs. It is best to start with an energy audit before moving forward with solar panels. In many cases, people end up with larger solar systems than they need because their house is actually wasting unnecessary energy. If your home is efficient, you will be able to get the smallest solar system possible, thus saving you more money.
- How do I pay for this and what is PACE financing?
